Physical Therapy
Physical therapy uses exercises, manual therapy, education and other interventions to help people move better, reduce pain, and recover from injuries. Physical therapy is not only for those recovering from injury as it improves stability/balance, promotes better posture, flexibility and enables individuals to perform daily activities for a healthier active lifestyle.
-
Dry Needling
Dry needling aids in relieving muscle pain and reduces inflammation to facilitate the healing process. This technique stimulate blood flow and relaxes tight muscles, which can improveoverall physical function and reduce pain.
-
Injury Prevention
Injury prevention is crucial as it helps maintain physical health and reduces the risk of chronic injuries. This ensures individuals can continue daily activities without interruption. Preventive measures, such as strength training, proper techniques, and mobility exercises, enhance the body’s resilience and stability, minimizing the likelihood of harm. By preventing injuries, people can avoid the pain, medical costs, and downtime associated with treatment and recovery. Overall, injury prevention contributes to long-term health, athletic performance, and quality of life.
-
Recovery
Recovery is essential for better health as it allows the body to repair and strengthen itself after physical exertion or injury, reducing the risk of further damage. Effective recovery practices help reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and restore mobility. By prioritizing recovery, individuals can improve their overall performance, maintain long-term physical health, and prevent chronic conditions. Ensuring adequate recovery enhances energy levels, mental well-being, and the ability to perform daily activities effectively.
-
Corrective Exercises / Pre-Surgical Physical Therapy
“Prehabilitation” helps strengthen muscles and improve functional mobility. This can help enhance the body’s ability to recover faster. Engaging in targeted exercises and conditioning, patients can optimize their physical condition, potentially reducing surgical complications and shortening recovery times. Pre-surgical physical therapy also helps patients become familiar with postoperative exercises, improving adherence and effectiveness post-surgery. Overall, it prepares the body for surgery, leading to better surgical outcomes and faster return to normal activities.
-
Specific Return to Sport Training
Specific return to sports training helps athletes recover effectively from injuries by targeting the exact muscle groups and movements used in their sport, which accelerates rehabilitation and improves performance. It prevents further injuries by strengthening the muscles and coordination specific to the sport. This type of training also helps athletes regain confidence and helps with physical and mental preparedness to return to competition.
-
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy offers significant benefits by providing pain relief, improved mobility, and muscle relaxation. This it an essential component of physical rehabilitation. It helps reduce anxiety, promotes restful sleep, and decreases muscle tightness and spasms. By incorporating manual therapy into rehabilitation programs, individuals can expedite recovery, optimize movement, and enhance overall physical function. The hands-on approach effectively addresses various muscular and joint related issues, leading to better patient outcomes.
-
IASTM
IASTM is a form of manual therapy that uses specialized stainless steel instruments to perform soft tissue mobilization. This tool is used to detect and treat areas of fascial restrictions, muscle tightness, or scar tissue. By gently scraping or gliding the instruments along the skin, it helps break down adhesions, stimulate blood flow, and promote healing. The benefits of IASTM therapy include increased circulation to the affected areas, reduced pain, enhanced tissue repair, and improved flexibility. It also helps to release tension in muscles, increase range of motion, and decrease inflammation, making it particularly effective for individuals recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic musculoskeletal issues.
-
Tempering
Tempering is a unique form of deep tissue treatment that uses large, weighted rollers or mechanical devices to apply pressure to muscles and soft tissues. This technique targets deep layers of muscle and fascia, often in areas that are difficult to reach with traditional massage methods. The therapist applies the weighted tool along specific muscle groups to break up adhesions, release tension, and promote muscle recovery. The benefits of body tempering include increased blood flow, reduced muscle tightness, improved range of motion, and enhanced muscle recovery. By stimulating circulation and promoting lymphatic drainage, body tempering helps to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and accelerate the healing process, making it particularly beneficial for athletes, individuals with chronic pain, or anyone looking to improve muscle flexibility and function.
-
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions. The therapy involves generating high-energy acoustic waves that are directed at the affected area of the body. These waves are delivered through a handheld device that is applied to the skin. The shockwaves penetrate the tissues and stimulate cellular repair processes. They can also improve blood flow and break down calcified tissue or scar tissue. Common conditions treated are Tendinitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Calcific Tendonitis and Muscle Pain and Strains.
-
Spinal Manipulation
Spinal manipulation offers significant benefits, including reduction of short-term and long-term back pain and improving joint mobility. It can enhance posture and alleviate discomfort from injuries, making it an essential component of holistic health care.

Personal / Group Training
At XPE we offer both personal and group training. We like to offer this to our patients who graduate Physical Therapy because even though you are working with the trainer directly, we are still there to oversee your progress and assist when needed. Personal Training involves one-on-one sessions with a trainer who customizes workouts to your individual goals, needs, and fitness level. It provides focused attention, flexible scheduling, and personalized guidance. Group Training consists of exercise classes with multiple participants led by a trainer. It offers social interaction and structured workouts, but with less individual attention. It’s great for those who enjoy a community atmosphere.
